If you have very good taste, and would like to avoid the mass market, and if have lots and lots of money, then a cruise line holiday for you. Most people attracted to these types of holidays are wealthy, relatively or actually sophisticated, and social. They are well traveled if not necessarily adventurous, tend to stick to five-star experiences, and do not blink at paying top dollar to be pampered -- which is exactly what they get...pampered.
As a rule, ships in the luxury market are smaller than those in the mainstream, which lets them visit smaller ports and aids the staff in providing truly personalized service. The smallest vessels (the two SeaDream yachts, plus Seabourn's Pride, Legend, and Spirit) carry only 100 to 200 passengers, while the largest would barely be midsize by mainstream standards, carrying only 700 to 1,000 passengers apiece

The Food on a Cruise is just on its own worth going for!
The average all-inclusive holiday only offer buffets. Perhaps the very elite resorts can boast cuisine that approaches that of a cruise, but for the gourmet meals served on even the least expensive cruise, it is well worth it. On a cruise, you can enjoy linguine and clams one night and filet mignon the next, possibly lobster on the third night and maybe beef wellington if that is your pleasure. The one serious drawback of a cruise is the price of the alcoholic beverages. |
The Entertainment on a Cruise Trip, is all that you would expect it to be. If you would you prefer to be entertained by trained singers and dancers, who have at some point performed on Broadway, in Toronto, and other entertainment hotspots, or by the waitstaff. That is the difference in the entertainment quality between the two types of vacations. Cruise performers are trained, auditioned, and practiced performers; experienced singers and dancers who will not disappoint. When you visit a resort, chances are you will be entertained by the same staff who made your bed and cleaned your table.
